On 16 August 2025, the Hong Kong Science Museum hosted the “Quantum Perspectives and Future Education Forum: An Exploratory Journey from the Microscopic to the Macroscopic”, which marked the first lecture of the Government’s “Science in the Public Service” (SIPS) 2025 series. This year’s program, themed “Science Experience and Data Application”, will run from August to December, offering free forums and lectures at the Science Museum Lecture Hall to promote science and showcase the work of government departments and partner organisations.

Prof Sunny Xin Wang (Associate Professor, CityUHK Physics / Honorary Treasurer, Physical Society of Hong Kong) delivered the opening keynote, “The Exotic Quantum World: Rethinking Reality at the Smallest Scales.” He introduced the audience to key concepts such as superposition and entanglement, and illustrated how quantum principles drive technologies ranging from quantum computing to advanced materials. His talk made complex topics approachable while highlighting the transformative potential of quantum science.

Dr Minquan He (Research Assistant, CityUHK Physics) then presented “Immersive Learning: Advancing Quantum Physics Education with Virtual Reality”, demonstrating VR-based teaching tools developed at CityUHK that bring abstract phenomena to life for students.

The forum attracted a full audience and strong engagement, underscoring public enthusiasm for science and education. As the opening event of the SIPS 2025 series, it highlighted CityUHK Physics’ dual role in advancing frontier research and pioneering innovative approaches to science education.
