Bacheng Town of Kunshan -- Relishing Kunqu
Southeast Asian Mask

Bacheng, an ancient water town with a history of more than 2,500 years, has embraced its identity of being the "Kunqu Town" as its development strategy in recent years, leveraging traditional cultural arts to explore diverse business opportunities. Local designers have integrated the characteristics and aesthetic spirit of Kunqu opera into their creations, giving it a contemporary expression that resonates with the younger generation and breathes new light into this traditional art form.

In addition to introducing Kunqu, this exhibition features a range of cultural and creative artefacts, including comics of opera characters, exquisite handicrafts, tourist souvenirs and even Kunshan specialty coffee, to showcase how producers combine traditional culture and modern technology, adopting the perspectives of innovation and beauty, and relate this to our daily lives. This diverse and inspiring approach invites the audience to connect with Kunqu on a deeper level, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of this classic art.
