Law lecture 
As part of the Eminent Speakers Lecture Series, the School of Law will be hosting a lecture, “From US Issues to Global Financial Reforms,” on 11 September in the Multi-media Conference Room from 5pm. The speaker will be Dr The Honourable Ronald Arculli, GBS, CVO, OBE, JP, currently a Non-Official Member of the Executive Council of the HK Government and Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing. He is the senior partner of King and Wood, the Hong Kong Office of the largest law firm in mainland China.

 

Special dialogue 
The Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics (CTL) is holding a special event entitled “A Dialogue between Timothy Mo and Zhang Longxi” on 4 September, from 4:45pm in the Multi-media Conference Room. Timothy Mo, a well-known novelist, will discuss being an Asian writer writing in English, mediating between Eastern and Western cultures, and his thoughts on issues of cross-cultural understanding and interaction. Professor Zhang Longxi, Chair Professor of CTL, is a leading scholar in East-West comparative literature and cross-cultural studies who was this year elected a Foreign Member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities.

 

Swimming meet 
The 19th CityU Annual Aquatic Meet (2009-2010) will be held on 26 September at the CityU Swimming Pool. Open to students and staff, the deadline for entries is 16 September. Entry forms can be accessed online.

 

Anniversary reunion 
The Silver Jubilee Reunion: Ocean Park Night, an event for CityU family, will be held on 19 September, from 4 – 10:30pm. CityU members and their accompanying guests will enjoy exclusive use of the facilities from 6:30pm onwards. Each ceremony participant will be given a 25th anniversary souvenir pin.
