HK Tech Forum

The future of energy transition, plus the challenges and opportunities in achieving renewable energy development and a sustainable environment, will be the principal area of discussion at the Forum on Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Environment (CNSE) organised by the Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy (HKICE) at CityU. World-renowned scholars and researchers will cover silicon and solution processible organic/perovskite photovoltaics; advanced batteries and solar fuels; energy-saving device applications, including OLED, heat management, ultrafast, and low-power 5G communications; smart grids technologies; and the battle against human-induced climate change; among others. The featured speaker is Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs of Columbia University, the recipient of the 2022 Tang Prize in Sustainable Development for leading transdisciplinary sustainability science. Dr Liu Yang, a 2020 PhD graduate under the supervision of Dr Li Zhenjiang, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, received the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award 2021 from the China Chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Embedded Systems (SIGBED) for her thesis entitled “Human Behavior Sensing and Understanding with Sparse Wearable Sensors.” Dr Liu was among three awardees whose doctoral theses were written between 2020 and 2021 and who were recognised for their exceptional quality with important innovations in basic and applied theory and technologies in the field of Computer Science.
