City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce the recognition of 19 scholars at the Research Grants Council (RGC) Award Presentation Ceremony 2025/26. CityUHK ranked first among universities in Hong Kong in the number of awardees, showcasing the University’s commitment to excellence in research.
Among this year’s awardees, Professor Julien Laurent Chaisse, from the School of Law, and Professor Angus Yip Hin-lap, from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the College of Engineering and the School of Energy and Environment, were honoured as RGC Senior Research Fellows. Additionally, Professor Zhu Zonglong, from the Department of Chemistry, the College of Science, and Professor Wang Shiqi, from the Department of Computer Science, the College of Computing, were awarded the title of RGC Research Fellows. They will receive fellowship grants of about HK$8.2 million and HK$5.5 million, respectively, over a period of 60 months.
This year, 11 CityUHK scholars were recognised as RGC Junior Research Fellows, each receiving an annual stipend of approximately HK$425,000 to conduct full-time postdoctoral research during the 24-month fellowship. They are from the College of Biomedicine, the College of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and the College of Science.
CityUHK also had two Early Career Awardees and two Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellows.

The RGC held the Award Presentation Ceremony on 3 November, honouring 98 scholars from eight universities funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) for their distinguished research achievements and significant contributions to the higher education sector.
