Aims of Minor

This minor aims to

  • develop students’ knowledge of social, political, economic, environmental, and cultural development processes from the globalization perspectives, including but not limited to industrialization, economic restructuring, intra-national migration, international relations and international political economy.
  • enhance its graduates' knowledge, skills, and prospects for professional careers in business, non-profit, and governmental organizations, education and research organizations, and other organizations whose operations require social research skills and an informed globalization outlook.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Minor (MINILOs)

Upon successful completion of this minor, students should be able to:

1. Identify a range of issues that are relevant to contemporary regional and international relations and the political economy of globalization, and explore their relevance for Hong Kong organizations, business, and government through the use of a range of social science research methods and techniques of data collection.

2. Explore and explain the globalization issues independently through a range of social science theories, research methods and data collection and analysis techniques, applying transferable skills valuable for employment in various work settings.
