Course Aims | ||||||||
This course introduces students to contemporary animation through a combination of creative practice and technical skills. Students explore the fundamentals of animation, including storytelling, timing, and visual performance, while gaining hands-on experience in stop-motion- and 2D/3D animation in Blender, procedural animation, storyboarding, compositing, editing, sound design, post-production, motion capture, and hybrid live performance. Throughout the course, students complete practical exercises and short projects that develop their understanding of animation workflows. The course culminates in final project that demonstrates creative, technical, and conceptual development from pre-production to final presentation. Enrolment for SM5347 depends on School's permission, which will only be granted if the topic is essentially different from that covered in this course offered in or before Semester B 2025/26, SM6311 and SM6327. | ||||||||
