The course introduces the possibilities of developing the concept of media worlding in the context of live and experimental performance. Through the study of relevant projects, historical and contemporary references, and hands-on sessions, students examine how sound, image, movement, objects, and digital media may be activated in real time to generate experiential, spatial, and participatory forms. With attention to experimental performance, liveness, improvisation, mediation, and technological environments, the course draws on approaches from sound art, expanded cinema, multimedia practice, and digital performance. Through seminars, case studies, workshops, critique, and presentations, students are encouraged to explore how their own medium may be developed into performative form through experimentation and live interaction.

Enrolment for SM5347 depends on School's permission, which will only be granted if the topic is essentially different from that covered in this course offered in or before Semester B 2025/26, SM6311 and SM6327.
