Course Aims

This intensive two-day course gives the participants a strategic, executive-level perspective on financial technology (FinTech) and digital assets and how they are reshaping payments, financial services, and investing. Designed for experienced managers, it emphasizes core principles, business models, and strategic and regulatory implications rather than technical detail. The course introduces the foundations of FinTech and digital payments, the basic ideas behind blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and the emerging digital-asset landscape, such as stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). It pays particular attention to developments in Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, with examples drawn from leading payment platforms, regulated digital-asset service providers, and AI-enabled digital brokerages. Through concise lectures and real-world cases, participants build a practical framework for assessing the opportunities, risks, and regulation of FinTech and digital assets and for making informed strategic decisions in a rapidly digitalizing financial environment.
