Programme Aims

The programme aims to train social science practitioners with sound knowledge in the theory and practice of sociology to help people, organizations and communities develop innovative solutions, and to accomplish excellence in undertaking social research.


Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)


Upon successful completion of this Programme, students should be able to:

1. demonstrate the professional identity and commitment to principles and ethical standards underlying sociologists’ professional responsibilities and conduct;
2. analyze sociological theories and practice, and the interaction between theory and practice;
3. analyze critically social, economic and technological changes, and evaluate their impacts on individuals and society;
4. execute qualitative and quantitative research in applied sociology; and
5. devise innovative sociological practices in real-life settings and changing situations.
