Course Aims

This course exposes students to elements of writing craft in their chosen genre and the creative writing process through guided peer review of their own and other students’ creative work.  Students will “workshop” all submitted pieces under the guidance of a faculty member in an intensive setting during the summer residency. Students will also receive feedback from the instructor and their peers of their own creative work to help them revise and improve their writing.

Note:  This course offers separate sessions and students can choose from either Creative Nonfiction or Fiction or Poetry. The course numbering I & II is only to indicate the student’s progress as opposed to different levels or course contents. It is intended that students of the same level of progress be grouped together in the same workshop by genre.

Assessment (Indicative only, please check the detailed course information)

Participation during workshop: 25%
Initial submission: 50%
