Other than the names of the residence halls indicated on the location map banner on the footbridge of the Student Residence, how much do you know about the SR where you are staying?

Located at Cornwall Street and the centre of the Kowloon Peninsula, our Student Residence is geographically very convenient and in the vicinity of some private luxury estate developments, including Mount Beacon on Tat Hong Avenue. When you stand on the footbridge which connects you with the main campus and Festival Walk, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the neighbourhood, including the very close Beacon Hill, Lion Rock, Hong Kong Baptist University and Kowloon Peak.

The footbridge connecting the SR with the main campus also leads you to Shek Kip Mei Park, a green park where you can enjoy fresh air and a small walk. If you are a tennis player, you can book the tennis courts inside Shek Kip Mei Park with the Leisure & Cultural Services Department.

Another popular corner for student residents to stop by is the wall by the lawn and Multi-function Hall A, where you can enjoy very nice views and refreshing breezes. The lawn area does not stand alone but is accompanied by some bronze statues to “greet” you. What’s more, if you hang around there with a peaceful mind and listening ears, you may hear the birds chirping and singing.

Creative Media Centre

At the northern side of our Student Residence, you will find the state-of-the-art Creative Media Centre with its exquisite exterior design. The new building creates a striking landmark in the landscape at Cornwall Street. If you keep walking past the Creative Media Centre and along Cornwall Street, you will find Shek Kip Mei Service Reservoir Playground on your upper right-hand side. The Playground is a good spot for you to have a walk or do some jogging exercise.

These corners are just some of the highlights of our Student Residence. There are a lot more for you to discover. In the next issue we will take you to some other corners.
