HKRITA R&D Projects funded by ITF

Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) is established with funding support from the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government. The Institute focuses on the following technology areas:

- New materials and textiles and apparel products
- Advanced textiles and clothing production technologies
- Innovative design and evaluation technologies
- Enhanced industrial systems and infrastructure

Under the above areas of focus, below please find the current interests of the industries:
- Sustainability
- Competitive advantages for HK industries
- Advances and advantages for HK society

The Institute is now inviting applications for the following research and development programmes:

  • Platform Research Programme - The programme requires support from at least one industry sponsor with total cash or in-kind contribution of no less than 10% of the total project cost.
  • Collaborative Research Programme - Applications are open to local companies who collaborate with a local public-funded research institution. Each application requires a cash or in-kind contribution of no less than 50% of the total project cost from the industry partner. The ownership of the foreground IP may be granted to the industry partner.

Priority for funding will be given to projects which have:
1. new research ideas;
2. high technical merit with deliverables which have potential for commercialization; and
3. experienced key research personnel.

Cash Rebate for Company Sponsors of ITF projects:
Company sponsors will receive a cash rebate equivalent to 40% of its expenditure (cash and in-kind contributions) in the funded ITF projects. Details of the ITC Cash Rebate Scheme is available at the ITC website: http://www.itc.gov.hk/en/funding/crs.htm

Application Submission
Applicants should submit to HKRITA via RO (email: rose@cityu.edu.hk; tel: 3442-6278) a powerpoint presentation which identifies the key features of the project proposal. Only the shortlisted proposals by HKRITA will be invited to submit a formal application.
