About the Run Run Shaw Library

The Library was established in 1984. In 1989, the Library moved to its current location in the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building of the University campus in Kowloon Tong and the following year it was named Run Run Shaw Library in recognition of a generous donation by Sir Run Run Shaw.

Located on Level 2 (Yellow and Red Zones) and Level 3 of Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, the Library occupies a central location which is easily accessible to users. The total number of seats available is around 2,700.

The Library's collection includes more than 1,038,800 volumes of print books and about 2,220,600 electronic books. The collection also comprises around 178,800 volumes of bound periodicals and about 965 current serials titles. The Library maintains an expanding number of electronic databases, e-journals, and media resources.

Mission of the Library

In line with the University’s mission to nurture and develop the talents of students and to create applicable knowledge, the Library endeavours to support and augment learning, teaching and research by providing an environment conducive to studying and offering seamless access to the diverse, up-to-date and high-quality resources. It delivers effective and value-added services and actively encourages and facilitates use of the space, collections and services critical to the success of students and faculty.
