Notes:
A. 24-hour Access Arrangement
- During the Revision and Examination Periods of Sem A & B,
selected areas of the Library will open 24 hours with assistance from the
Facilities Management Office.
- Access to the Information Space and the Self Study Areas (FYW) must be via the
side entrance of Information Space (near Lift 7).
- There are about 90 seats with PC workstation in the Information Space and 108
study seats in the Self Study Areas (FYW Building).
- Only CityU staff and students (including SCOPE smartcard holders)
can stay beyond 23:00 on the University campus. External users will be
invited to leave by 23:00. Users left behind may be subject to ID checks.
- Between 23:00 - 07:00, the rest of the University Campus will remain
closed. Access to the Library must be via the Pedestrian Subway
or the curved staircases on its two sides and then through the red doors.
- After counter service hours, the Library will operate with a minimal
Library staff and security guards will be on duty to patrol the
Library.
- Students are reminded:
- to ensure transport availability (e.g. taxi,
bus,
private car) when leaving the Library after midnight at time when
MTR
is not available.
- to return to the student hostels with company and avoid going
home alone. If necessary, students may seek help from the
security guards.
- not to reserve seats with unattended properties.
- to take good care of their personal belongings
to prevent theft while studying inside the Library.
- to help maintain a quiet environment and refrain from engaging in
any behaviour that interferes with the normal
use and operation of the Library.
- to observe Library
Regulations and be a responsible user.
B. Partial Access Arrangement - External Users
Each year when the examination period is approaching, there will be a high
demand for study space. Therefore, during the Semester A & B Revision and Examination periods, we will
impose the Partial Access Arrangement whereby access to
our Library by certain categories of external users will be limited to non-busy hours of the day only.
Affected users include the following:
- Holders of Alumni Library Ticket - Reader (those with reading privileges only)
- JULAC Card Holders - Reader / Borrower (students only) from other UGC institutions

Notes to JULAC Card Holders - Borrowers (students only) from other UGC Institutions:
If you need to borrow books, return books or collect recalled items
during the affected period, please note the following:
- Instead of borrowing books from us in person, you may consider using
interlibrary loan or HKALL borrowing services of your home library.
- To return books, you may bring them to your home library and use the JULAC Book
Return Service instead.
- If you want to return books in person, use the bookdrops located outside
our Library. For books with accompanying fragile materials such as CD-ROMs,
please pass them to our security guards at the entrance who will return them
for you.
- To collect recalled items, you may come during accessible time. If your schedule
only allows you to come during the non-accessible time, you have to show
your book pickup notice to the security guard in order to gain access into
the Library.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused to users concerned.
The restriction is only temporary. For the last three days of the Examination
Period, all restriction will be lifted. Normal access
will resume. For
affected users who have genuine need to use our Library during the non-accessible
period, they are welcome to contact us for special arrangement. Any enquiries
can be directed to lb@cityu.edu.hk or 3442 8316.
Please refer to the Academic
Calendar for the periods of examinations, semester breaks and term
break.
