Library Facilities


The following facilities are available to Library users:

Electronic Resources Workstations

A number of electronic resources workstations are provided near the Law Section of the Library for all library users to use various electronic resources.

Refinitiv Eikon Workstation

A Refinitiv Eikon Workstation is provided near the IT Help Desk in the Library for current CityU staff and students. Users can reserve the workstation via Refinitiv Eikon Workstation Booking System with their <Electronic ID> and the corresponding <Password>.

Media Resources Workstations

A number of media resources workstations are provided outside the Media Resources Collection Room and 2nd floor of the Library for all library users to use various media resources.

Carrels with various equipment are provided in the area for users to use library resources only but not personal media. Available equipment includes:

  • Videocassette players of the following formats: U-matic, VHS
    All of the VCRs are available with mutli-system capacities.
  • Multidisc players
  • Audio cassette deck
  • Multimedia PC computers
  • Blu-ray players

N.B.

  • Microform reader/scanner is available outside the Media Resources Collection Room.
  • Users are allowed to use the workstations up to 4 hours daily. Users are reminded to pay attention to the remaining time displayed on screen. Since the PCs will be shutdown automatically after reaching the daily quota, users are advised to save working documents to external or cloud storage regularly in order to avoid data loss.

Photocopiers, Printers, Scanners and Microform Equipment

Photocopiers and Printers

Photocopiers and printers (release stations) can be found at various locations within the Library. They cater for black and white as well as colour photocopying/printing of A4 and A3 sizes.

Most of the workstations in the Library are connected to network laser printers.

Users of notebook computers and mobile devices connected to the CityU WLAN or the CityU VPN from any Wi-fi hotspots of ISPs can also print to the network laser printers.

Two types of printing service are available, namely Octopus Card-operated Fast Printing Service (charged printing) and Quota Controlled Fast Print Queue Service (free laser printing using quota limit as assigned by Computing Services Centre):

Scanners

The following workstations in the Information Space are connected to colour scanners with OCR capabilities:

All scanners are available to current CityU staff and students of programmes leading to CityU awards. These machines can be used to capture colour images and text documents.

Microform Equipment

Microform readers/scanners located outside the Media Resources Collection Room are available for viewing, printing and scanning microform materials.
