Pilot Staff Network

 

A pilot staff network will be set up in CSC and one of the academic departments in September. It will have the following:

• a Fibre Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) backbone switch
• switching hubs with virtual LAN capability
• structured Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) wiring.

The results and experience gathered from the pilot network will provide a blueprint for our future campus network. It is expected that the pilot network can be completed in four months time.
