Hard Copy Centre

 

Owing to the need for producing hard copies of professional-looking teaching materials, a new service bureau, known as the Hard Copy Centre, was set up by the Computer Centre. In order to share this new facility with all other staff of CPHK, we had launched a three-day Open House in early February this year.

Over 130 staff came and each and every one of them was impressed by the services we provide. These services include colour laser and photo-realistic printing, film recording/slide making, colour image scanning, video image capturing, logo character cutting and many more.

Not long after the open house, we added two new services: film scanning and poster printing. The film scanning service offers a way to capture an image of a 35mm slide or negative into a file for further manipulation or printing. The poster printing service offers a way to scale computer documents up to A0 (840mm x 1188mm). Larger sizes are possible on multiple pages of A0 paper.

To enable more users to enjoy all the wonderful services that the Hard Copy Centre has to offer, we held a two-day exhibition outside the Computer Shop in mid-September. Activities during the exhibition included: delivery of user's guide and service leaflet, service demonstration, and service introduction tours. Around 450 staff visited the exhibition. Most of them had shown interest in poster printing, photo-realistic printing and film scanning. During the exhibition, staff were invited to fill out a questionnaire regarding their current teaching aids, the usefulness of the services offered, and their future needs in preparing teaching materials. Most of them gave favourable comments.
