HKIAS International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and its Applications

Ten distinguished mathematicians from around the world will discuss some of the latest trends in various fields of mathematical analysis at a conference organised by the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) from 17 to 18 April. Topics will include mathematical theories for metamaterials, partial differential equations, and Jacobian determinants and degree theory in nonlinear elasticity. For more information, please visit here.

HKIAS Distinguished Lecture Series

Professor Pierre-Louis Lions, Professor at the Collège de France and a Fields Medalist, will conduct a lecture titled “On some new mathematical models and their applications” on 19 April. The talk will include some historical remarks on the intrinsic connections between mathematical modelling and the development of mathematics, the mean-field games theory, and the study of systems governed by large random matrices. CityUHK was awarded the Gold Campus Award for 2024 by the Exercise Is Medicine On Campus (EIM-OC) programme, in recognition of its commitment to create a culture of wellness on campus and establish physical activity as a vital sign, linking health care and fitness professionals to provide a referral system for exercise prescription. EIM-OC is a global health initiative launched by the American College of Sports Medicine. CityUHK has received the EIM-OC Gold Campus award for five consecutive years since 2020.

CityUHK obtained the title “Hong Kong Green Organisation” (HKGO) in 2024 for its commitment to, and efforts in, sustainability and achievements in multiple environmental areas. The University has received the HKGO title since 2018. Hong Kong Green Organisation Certification is led by the Environmental Campaign Committee and the Environment and Ecology Bureau, in conjunction with nine industrial and commercial organisations. It aims to benchmark organisations in green management, to encourage participating organisations to adopt environmental practices in different aspects and to recognise their efforts in and commitments to the environment.
