As CityU's new president, it gives me great pleasure to extend to you all a very warm and personal welcome to the University's Website ! Within this virtual space, you will find, as I do, much to interest you about this young and ambitious institution.
Despite our short history, we have a record of outstanding achievement across various disciplines. Our School of Creative Media, for example, is a multiple winner in local, regional and international competitions. Our Faculty of Business is the only one of its kind in Greater China to win triple accreditation. In applied research, our impact is felt both locally and internationally. Do you know that one of our computer science professors has produced the award-winning "AI Engine," an intelligent scheduling software that maximizes and streamlines the local MTR operations? And, among many others, that the handheld wireless charging platform for electronic devices designed by our electronic engineers has been licensed by a 6-star hotel in Tokyo?
More than merely showcasing our achievements, this website gives you fingertip access to soft data and hard facts to satisfy all your curiosity about CityU. You can even read our Financial Report online, without having to ask for a hard copy.
Whatever your information needs, you will find, on this site, a parade of our programs and activities, reflecting the rich campus life, as well as facts and figures that tell our story.
The University has been busy building new facilities to support our quest for excellence. I cordially invite you to take a virtual tour of our ultra-modern Multi-Media Building that is due for completion in 2012. You can see that CityU takes its mission very seriously of turning out well-rounded professionals to meet many of society's needs.
Of course, I would love to see you visit our campus in person. But the
next best thing may be a virtual visit. Who knows, this may spark your interest
to start a beautiful relationship with City University of Hong Kong that
is justly famous for making an impact and making a difference to professional
education and excellence.
Way Kuo, President
