This course surveys the post-war relationship between the countries of East
Asia and the US, with a particular focus on economic, security and
socio-cultural issues. East Asia and the US are connected across
diverse spheres including global supply chains, international trade, security
interests, immigration and popular culture. Students will assess the
nature, depth and direction of these flows. What is the balance of conflict and
interdependence in these economic, security and socio-cultural relationships?
