Students must submit a qualifying report within the specified qualified period. A qualifying report should include a survey of the relevant literature, and identification of a specific research topic, the research methodology and a discussion on possible outcomes.

After the qualifying period, students must submit progress reports on an annual basis until they have submitted the final version of their thesis for oral examination and completed any other academic requirements.

Thesis:

A PhD thesis should present the results of research investigation, give evidence of a throughout understanding of the research area, its context and applicability, and make a substantial original contribution to both the literature and practice in the subject area concerned.

Additional Notes:

For FB8905 Project, students must COMPLETE the thesis proposal defence conducted by a panel set up by IS Department the latest by 31 December of their third year of study*. Students who fail in the defence are allowed to have at most one more attempt at the discretion of the panel. If a second attempt is allowed, students must PASS the defence the latest by 30 June of their third year of study*.
