城大舉辦普通話沙龍，為學生提供輕鬆的環境練習普通話，提升學生的語文能力。
城大開發的「視覺鑑別聲調正誤」軟件已成功應用於普通話教學，全港中小學自6月中起可以使用一套運用該教學軟件的網上自學普通話多媒體教程，提升學生的普通話的能力。
四位教員憑藉卓越的教學表現，在27名由學生、校友或課程委員會提名的候選教師中脫穎而出，成為城大2005-06年度傑出教學獎的得主。
2005年新學年為中文、翻譯及語言學系的學生帶來了嶄新的學習體驗。9月7日，28位主修語言學的學生開始了第一節韓語視像會議課，與首爾國立大學的國際學生同步上課。
