Web Content Management Platform (Drupal)

Drupal is a content management system (CMS) that can be used to manage the creation and publication of web content. It is handy for websites with repetitive content updates. Numerous benefits include (i) straightforward content authoring through web browsers; (ii) support of form filling and WYSIWYG editing tool similar to Word processing software of Microsoft; (iii) assigning user roles with different permissions; (iv) providing a workflow to review, publish and archive content; and (v) a Drupal template site pre-designed with CityU brand and well-tested to shorten the time in web design and development.

It is suitable for websites that only provide static information to the public. Sharing protected content to staff and/or students should be done via SharePoint Online instead.

The Drupal template site is available only to departments that need a CMS-based website on a per-request basis. Outsourcing is highly recommended for website design and development due to the complexity and in-depth Drupal knowledge required. Generally, it takes 3-6 months to create a Drupal website depending on complexity.
