Selection Criteria

Candidates/teams will be selected on the basis of their outstanding research achievements and excellence of their research programmes. Selection will be based on merit and one or more of the following criteria will apply as appropriate:

• demonstrated track records of the candidate/team as evident in the quality of the research and scholarship achievements, grants, prizes and patent awards, significant output in international peer-reviewed literature, and other forms of special recognition relevant to the discipline
• evidence of successful application and/or commercialization of the research outputs
• contributions of the applicant to the field of research and/or demonstrated potential for making outstanding contributions to research in the field
• the relevance, impact and significance of the research to the industrial, economic and social development in Hong Kong and beyond

Selection Process

The Scheme will be administered by the Office of the Vice-President (Research & Technology). A Selection Panel chaired by the VP(Research & Technology), and comprising three senior researchers of the University from a mix of disciplines plus up to two external members, will be set up to consider the applications . Comments of the respective Department/College will be invited and the Panel may also seek external peer assessments as and when necessary. The Panel will be responsible for the final selection based on the documents submitted and a presentation by the shortlisted candidates.
