On 4 July 2025, the Society of Boys' Centres Chak Yan Centre School (Chak Yan Centre School) held its 2024-25 Graduation Ceremony at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). The event drew over 280 students, parents, teachers, and guests, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere. Themed “50 Years of Transformation,” the ceremony celebrated the school’s 51st anniversary, marking a significant milestone while showcasing students’ achievements in academics, sports, and the arts and how CityUHK elevated the learning journey of Chan Yan students.
Professor Chan Chi Hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement) of CityUHK, served as the officiating guest and shared insights on the longstanding partnership between CityUHK and Chak Yan Centre School. He highlighted past collaborations, such as inviting Chak Yan Centre School students to create coffee latte art at the “CityUHK@Sham Shui Po” exhibition, showcasing their talent and creativity. Professor Chan also spoke about the “CityUHK Student Residence Community Service Programme with our Neighbourhood – Linked with Chak Yan Center School”, which includes academic support, campus visits, and volunteer services by CityUHK students. This year, one of the graduates, Kwok Kong Fat, was awarded the full scholarship to the Global Conference Leadership Camp and SCMUN in August at CityUHK. Encouraging the graduates, Professor Chan said, “As long as you work hard and dare to try, there are ample opportunities awaiting you!”
Mr Kwok Shing Ming, School Supervisor, and Ms Kwok Chi Wing, Principal, expressed heartfelt thanks to CityUHK for the generous support in organising the event and the ongoing commitment to Chak Yan Centre School’s students. Mr Kwok remarked, “CityUHK not only provided this wonderful venue for our graduation ceremony but has also partnered with us to create valuable learning and development opportunities for our students. They are truly a great neighbour!” Ms Kwok added that the collaboration with CityUHK has opened new possibilities for students, inspiring them to pursue their dreams courageously.
The ceremony featured a series of captivating performance by students from both CityUHK and Chak Yan Centre School. A short drama depicted the story of how CityUHK and Chak Yan Centre School met and nurtured students hand in hand, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience. Additionally, a dynamic performance combined a Chak Yan Centre School student’s nunchaku with a CityUHK student’s singing, showcasing the synergy and talents of both schools.

Videos created by the graduates were shown, sharing their hopes and dreams for the future, deeply touching the audience. To express their gratitude to Professor Chan, the students presented a sand painting video, a heartfelt gesture of appreciation. Additionally, the students gifted hand-painted artworks to Professor Chan and Professor Steve Wong, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement) and SRO representatives, as souvenirs, symbolising their gratitude to CityUHK.
The Graduation Ceremony was not only a reflection on Chak Yan Centre School’s 51 years of achievements but also a hopeful glance toward the future. With the continued partnership with CityUHK, Chak Yan Centre School remains committed to nurturing its students, empowering them to embrace opportunities and shape a brighter future.
