Jiaze earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in June 2024, advisied by Prof. Victor Zavala. After completing his PhD, Jiaze joined the Department of Systems Engineering at City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor. His group focuses on three primary areas:
1. Optimization Algorithms and Software: we develop tailored graph-based, ADMM, GPU accelerated, and Bayesian optimization Algorithms and Julia Packages, to address challenges in large-scale energy systems, complex chemical processes, and supply chain optimization
2. Energy Systems and Process Systems Engineering: we are currently developing scalable optimization and control frameworks for green hydrogen production, battery swapping stations and green fuel synthesis. We are also developing Bayesian experiment design techniques to help guide experiments and data collection.
3. Machine Learning for Smart Sensors: we are currently working with our industrial collaborators on developing machine learning models to enhance sensor accuracy and reduce costs. Examples include measurement switches for detecting electricity theft and image-based sensors for rock moisture and hardness detection.
