PEMSEA – PNLC and RCOE

The State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (SKLMP) is honoured to be a member of the PEMSEA Network of Learning Centers and designated as a PEMSEA Regional Center of Excellence (RCOE) in Marine Pollution.

 

On 13 September 2022, SKLMP and PEMSEA held a successful online signing ceremony, during which SKLMP Director Prof. Kenneth Leung signed the PNLC Charter. Dr. Keita Furukawa, Technical Session Chair, Ms Aimee Gonzales, Executive Director and other members of the PEMSEA Executive Committee attended the ceremony and expressed their warm welcome to SKLMP.

PEMSEA aims to foster and sustain healthy and resilient coasts and oceans, communities and economies across the Seas of East Asia through integrated management solutions and partnerships. The PNLC, consisting of PEMSEA Learning Centers and Regional Centers of Excellence (RCOEs), is a consortium of higher education and research institutes that provide academic training, extension services, policy advice, and other forms of technical assistance and capacity-building. 

 

As a new member, SKLMP will provide training in fisheries management, biodiversity conservation, habitat mapping and restoration, and pollution assessment, monitoring and control to support and help achieve the goal of "Clean Oceans" in East Asian waters.
