Research Assistant (6-month contract)
Project: Development of a Sustainable Fisheries Management Strategy for Hong Kong
We are also recruiting a Research Assistant to work on long-term fisheries monitoring and life history of economic fish species
Key duties
- Conduct one-day/half-day fisheries surveys during daytime. This includes packing the catches with the help of local fishers, collecting in-situ water quality data using YSI, and taking high-resolution photos and video footage during the survey.
- Collect biological data of fish, crustaceans, cephalopods, mollusks, or other marine animals in the lab.
- Investigate the habitat use and reproduction cycle of selected local fish species.
- Handle data, analyse data, and prepare manuscripts.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree or above (preferred fields: Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, or related subjects)
- Strong initiative and sense of responsibility
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently under pressure
