Teaching and Learning Arrangements for Semester A 2021/22

Teaching and Learning Arrangements for Semester A 2021/22

The University hereby reiterates its Teaching and Learning Arrangements for Semester A 2021/22 issued on June 5, 2021, taking note of travel restrictions for students originating from extremely and very high risk areas (Item 3).

  1. Mode of delivery:
    a. Sessions (including lecture, tutorial, laboratory and other sessions) with class size below 50 will be delivered face-to-face on campus.
    b. Sessions with class size of 50 to 79 will be offered in a mixed-mode format. Teachers will deliver these sessions real-time online via Zoom in conjunction with a face-to-face mode on campus. Students will be provided with the option to attend classes in person on campus or online via Zoom. Course teachers will make further announcements on the arrangements to be adopted for these sessions in due course.
    c. Sessions with class size of 80 or above will be delivered real-time online via Zoom.
  2. Examinations
The default mode of final examinations for Semester A 2021/22 will be face-to-face on campus. Starting from Semester A 2021/22, final examinations taken online may be identified accordingly in students’ transcripts.
  3. Students from especially high risk areas
The University understands that non-local students from places categorized by the HKSAR Government as Group A1 (extremely high-risk) and Group A2 (very high-risk) (https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/inbound-travel.html) may not be able to enter Hong Kong before the start of the new academic year due to travel restrictions. For these students, course teachers will make special arrangements such as video recording and real-time individualized online consultation for sessions mentioned in item 1(a) above. Students from these specified places should submit requests to their home Departments for consideration so that appropriate support and arrangements can be provided if such requests have not been submitted.

As announced in the Notification from the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) (142), CityU encourages faculty, students, and staff to consider vaccinations according to their personal circumstances.

The University will continue to monitor the local public health situation and may have to adjust the teaching and learning arrangements to ensure the health and safety of our staff and students.

The University strictly follows the Government infection control measures. Colleagues and students who come to campus must adhere to Government and University safety and health guidelines.

We look forward to welcoming staff and students on campus in the new academic year!
