Campus Development

Dear Colleagues,

As Cabinet Members and Deans are already aware, I will be stepping down from the Presidency of CityU in May 2023 after serving my term of office. I informed Mr Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman, some months ago, and he is now forming a search committee for a new President. Those of you who know me well will understand that my total commitment to CityU will continue to be exercised until my very last day as President.

In addition to the Jockey Club One Health Tower, which is due for completion in May 2023, our pioneering Dairy Farm near Tai Po for training veterinary students will be operational soon. Not only that, the HK Tech International Building will provide a space for non-local students to gather and find out more about Hong Kong when it opens in 2023. The building will be one of a kind in Hong Kong, housing the Global Engagement Office and other related units.

Everyone enjoys good food, a pleasant environment and a comfortable place to stay. Now at CityU, we have an exciting new facility to support the growing scholarly and academic activities that align with the University’s vision for developing into a world-class university.

Lodge Bistro at HK Tech Lodge had its soft opening on 1 November, and the facility is open to all staff and students from the CityU community. The Bistro provides 85 places in picturesque seating areas plus a chic dining environment for group discussion and exchange.

Lodge Bistro is just one of several new projects at CityU. More good news is that the revamped City Chinese Restaurant on the 8/F of the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Complex has proven so popular since its opening that you currently need to book a table in advance. I hope you all get a chance to check it out! There are several other exciting projects to report to you later.

Best wishes,

Way Kuo
President and University Distinguished Professor
