In recognition of his significant contributions to education and the well-being of society, Professor Alain Aspect, our Visiting Distinguished Professor, was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Science at the CityU Honorary Awards Ceremony on 26 November 2018. The Ceremony was presided by The Honourable Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, University Chancellor and the Chief Executive of the HKSAR. Other guests of honors included Dr Chung Shui-ming, University Pro-Chancellor; Mr Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman; Mr Vincent Chow Wing-shing, Deputy Council Chairman, and Professor Way Kuo, President.
Professor Alain Aspect has held positions at Institut d'Optique, ENS Yaoundé (Cameroon), ENS Cachan, ENS/Collège de France, CNRS. He is currently a Professor at Institut d'Optique Graduate School (Augustin Fresnel chair), and at Ecole Polytechnique, in Palaiseau, where he teaches courses in quantum optics.
