The College of Science Commencement for the graduating class of 2021 was held on 31 May 2021 at Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall, 5/F, Lau Ming Wai Academic Building (LAU).
The Commencement Ceremony, previously known as Congregation, used to be held in November. The changes were made to align with international practices.
Professor Chun-Sing LEE, Acting Dean of College of Science, was the Presiding Officer of the Commencement. We were much honored to have Mr Ricky Chan, the Chief Executive Officer of Jing Mei Automotive Limited, as our Guest of Honour and addressed the Commencement. Mr Chan is also one of the leaders of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, serving currently as the Executive Deputy Chairman, a Chairman’s Committee Member, Chairman of Group 27 (comprising the automobile, aeronautical and advance components sectors), Chairman of International Affairs Committee, and the Advisor of the Education Committee.
The new graduates, including those who wished to attend the Commencement virtually, were presented on the stage one by one. Miss Gao Ya from the Department of Mathematics delivered the graduation speech on behalf of the class of 2021.
