Overview
"If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." -- Nikola Tesla
Curiosity about the Universe drives the research at the Smart Transducers and Vibration Laboratory (STVL). Here we are devoted to studying the mechanisms and relationships of energy conversions, frequency responses, and vibration phenomena.
Research topics at the STVL include smart transducers such as wireless sensors, actuators, and energy harvesters; piezoelectric materials and devices; damping effect and nonlinear vibration; low-power circuits and mechatronic systems. The research benefits many industries such as the automotive industry, Internet of Things (IoT), structure health monitoring (SHM), and wearable and healthcare devices.
Taking a multidisciplinary approach in research, our dynamic team, led by Dr. Zhengbao YANG, consists of researchers from various backgrounds in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and material science. We work with an exciting network of designers, engineers, robotics experts, material scientists, and many industries inside and outside Hong Kong.
