CityU School of Creative Media SCM Annual 2017 “Unfold”
Over 70 multidisciplinary artworks including animation, film and video, installations, interactive and dynamic media, and photography will feature at a graduate showcase from 14 to 30 July 2017 at the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
“SCM Annual 2017: Unfold” is supported by the School of Creative Media (SCM) and the SCM Annual 2017 Organising Committee at CityU.
The theme of this year’s show, Unfold, refers to the timeless artistic process of creating art. By exploring oneself and the world, established concepts can be abandoned, creating space for more possibilities, and eventually for transforming feelings and thought into art.
The artwork is not the destination; it is a pause in the middle of a journey. By freezing a moment in time, we can review the process of self-affirmation and rejection. Then, a voyage in search of unknown possibilities is ready to begin once again.
Artwork developed by the first group of students graduating from the joint degree programme offered by CityU and Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany will also be unveiled in addition to the artwork created by students from SCM’s Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts and Science (New Media).
