422: Four Creative Media Graduates’ Photography Exhibition Supported by Julian Lee Asia One Photographic Awards

The School of Creative Media (SCM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is pleased to announce the second edition of the Julian Lee Asia One Photographic Awards Exhibition.

“422: Four Creative Media Graduates’ Photography Exhibition” will be held at the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre from 9 September to 1 October in 2016.

Four awardees, Chan Chun Yin, Chan Tsz Wai Levina, Lai Sze Long Sharon and Lam Pui Fung Spider, are graduates from the SCM. “422” is the symbol of their combination – four individuals, two males, two females – and expresses their independent observations and thoughts.

Chan Chun Yin uses images of melted landscapes to represent twisted memories resulting from rapid urban changes; Chan Tsz Wai Levina experiments with new methods for film photography to dig out unnoticeable details from daily life; Lai Sze Long Sharon explores unknown possibilities by enlarging aspects of life very often ignored by others; Lam Pui Fung Spider uses the camera as his brush to capture details from nature.

The Julian Lee Asia One Photographic Awards were first established in 2014 as the Julian Lee Photographic Scholarships. They are named after the late Mr Julian Lee, former Associate Professor in the SCM at CityU. Asia One Communications Group installed a new fund to the scholarship in 2015, and the scholarship was renamed as the Julian Lee Asia One Photographic Awards. The awards help talented students from School of Creative Media to organise their own photographic exhibitions and showcase their creative work.
