The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common type of dementia, is not easy because of the overlapping signs with normal ageing. Dr Kannie Chan Wai-yan, Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), has discovered a new, non-invasive way to detect early-stage Alzheimer’s disease using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology, helping patients get the necessary treatments before any symptoms appear.

Dr Chan will introduce the results of the research at the press conference. A media tour of the MRI laboratory will be arranged after the press conference.
