Groundbreaking technology that can accurately perform early screening for cancer cells and the monitoring of disease status has been successfully developed by a biomedical research team at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
With high accuracy, the new technology can detect cancer cells through a blood test within a short period of time so that the patient may know his or her risk of cancer as soon as possible. It can also monitor the effectiveness of drugs used for the medical treatment and is currently the fastest screening technology in the world.
At the press conference, members of the research team including Dr Henry Zou Heng and Dr Edwin Yu Wai-kin, Senior Research Associates at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, will introduce how this breakthrough in early screening and more accurate monitoring can offer patients more appropriate treatment.
