CityU marathon team led by President Kuo embodies spirit of excellence in academics and sports
Once again President Way Kuo of CityU has led a team of around 240 athletes in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which was held on 24 October. President Kuo has run the Hong Kong marathon with a CityU delegation for 12 consecutive years, except in 2020 because of Covid-19, exemplifying CityU’s spirit of excellence in both academics and sports.

1st Chinese female from across the Strait Elected Fellow of ICA
Professor Christine Huang Yi-hui, Chair Professor of Communication and Media and Associate Dean (Faculty and Research) of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at CityU, has been elected Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA) in recognition of her distinguished scholarly achievements. She is the first Chinese female in the four places across the Strait to earn this accolade.
UN-endorsed CityU project on monitoring global estuaries
The State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (SKLMP) at CityU has been endorsed by the United Nations (UN) to initiate a ten-year "Global Estuaries Monitoring (GEM)" Programme to collect and study environmental pollutants in the estuaries of major cities around the globe so as to formulate a long-term policy of promoting clean estuaries.
Prof Kuo Tei-wei Humboldt Research Award
Professor Kuo Tei-wei, Lee Shau Kee Chair Professor of Information Engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering, has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in recognition of his achievements as a pioneer in system and software designs of non-volatile memory.
Public health expert awarded major UK fellowship
Dr Nicholas Thomas, Associate Professor in the Department of Asian and International Studies, has been elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
Four CityU students win Innovation and Technology Scholarship
Four students from CityU won the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021, receiving HK$150,000 each for activities including overseas exchange, local internship and mentorship programmes.
