Students at CityU drew to a close the weeks-long CityU Arts Festival 2022/23 with a performance of the famed Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof from 18 to 20 November.

Under the leadership of President Way Kuo, CityU is one of the very few universities in Asia that advocates the spirit of excellence in academics, sports and music.

CityU actively encourages students to immerse themselves in athletic and musical activities as well as pursue academic knowledge. The academic and athletic potential of seven student-athletes admitted at the start of the 2022/23 academic year will be supported.

The full-time employment rate for graduates from CityU hit 96.6% in 2021, the highest among the eight publicly funded universities, according to the latest graduate employment data released by the UGC.

The new University Mascot was unveiled at a special ceremony on 23 August as part of an enthusiastic welcome for CityU’s freshmen.

CityU actively encourages students to pursue academic knowledge in the spirit of the “Six Arts” of Classical China (rites, music, archery, charioteering, calligraphy and arithmetic) by actively immersing themselves in athletic, musical, and intellectual activities.

Staff and students at CityU will partner up for the third time with students from Mary Rose School for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in 2022 to promote greater social integration through sports.

Once again President Way Kuo of CityU has led a team of around 240 athletes in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which was held on 24 October. President Kuo has run the Hong Kong marathon with a CityU delegation for 12 consecutive years, except in 2020 because of Covid-19, exemplifying CityU’s spirit of excellence in both academics and sports.

Distinguished cellist Mr Ray Wang and a group of exciting young musicians performed famed classical masterpieces at “Fly with Rhythms”, the opening concert for the CityU Arts Festival 2021 at CityU on 8 October.

New students were warmly welcomed at the University Welcoming Ceremony, held on campus and online by CityU on 24 August.
