A research team comprising experts from CityU , Harvard University and Nokia Bell Labs has successfully fabricated a tiny on-chip lithium niobate modulator, an electro-optic modulator which is more efficient, with faster data transmission and lower costs. CityU researchers are looking into its application for the coming 5G communication.
Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing and Dr Wallace Tang Kit-sang won the 2011 Second Class Award in the Natural Science category at the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology) from the Ministry of Education.
