A hundred students and staff packed the Screening Room of the School of Creative Media (SCM) in the evening of 22 October. They were watching Night Corridor, an independent movie directed by SCM Assistant Professor Mr Julian Lee.
Two CityU enterprises have been recognized for excellence in industrial performance.
H.E. Mr Shotaro Oshima, Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva, honoured CityU with a visit to the WTO Dispute Resolution Centre (WTODR), accompanied by Consul (Economic Section) Daisaku Sugihara of the Consulate-General of Japan. Assistant Professor Mr Julian Lee, of the School of Creative Media(SCM), has produced Night Corridor, an independent film with a shoestring budget of about HK$3 million. Committing themselves as pre-professional film workers, six creative media students got a first taste of how a film project runs in the real world. Mr Lee deemed this a precious chance for them to learn through the production process.
An exhibition by acclaimed Spanish contemporary artist, Josep Vernis, will be held 9 to 19 October at the CityU Art Gallery. The exhibition is co-organized by the CityU Art Gallery, the University's Culture and Sports Committee and the Department of English and Communication, in collaboration with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Spanish Consulate General.
Waves of prospective students surged into CityU¡Xa microcosm of academe 27 September. Volunteer student helpers and staff stood side-by-side to meet and greet the visitors who traveled from as far away as Stanley to discover all that CityU has to offer, from Accountancy to Physics.
I am pleased to announce that the University Council has appointed Professor David Tong as the Deputy President who will work closely with the President in the development of the University.
