  • access BrowZine on your desktop or laptop computers via BrowZine Web!
  • sync My Bookshelf and get article alerts on all of your devices - web, iOS, and Android too!
  • save articles and organize them into collections within My Articles which then syncs across all of the devices you are using via your BrowZine Account!
With the integration of CityU LibraryFind and BrowZine, you can use the link “View Journal Contents” in CityU LibraryFind to view more details of the content of journals or articles that are accessible via BrowZine. New!

What is BrowZine?

BrowZine is a Library-subscribed app for iOS and Android mobile devices that allows current CityU staff and students to easily browse, read and monitor Library's scholarly journals from different publishers and platforms. It's a tool for journal browsing and current awareness, not a database for finding articles by searching.

What is BrowZine Web?

BrowZine Web ( is the web version of BrowZine. Currently available features include My Bookshelf (your personal bookshelf of favourite academic journals), articles alerts (notifications of new articles in your favourite journals) and My Articles (saving articles found into collections). You can sync My Bookshelf and My Articles and get articles alerts on all of your devices (web, iOS, and Android). You need a BrowZine Account in order to synchronize My Bookshelf/My Articles across the web and all your BrowZine apps. Please refer to My Bookshelf and BrowZine Account FAQ for details.

What can BrowZine do for you?

BrowZine enables you to:

  • browse thousands of Library-subscribed journals by subject or by title and read the articles on an intuitive interface optimized for iOS and Android mobile devices.
  • create a personal bookshelf of your favourite journal titles for quick access.
  • receive notifications when new articles are published.
  • save favourite articles for future offline reading.
  • save and open articles in iBooks, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
  • export article citations to bibliographic management tools such as Mendeley and Zotero.
  • share article links with your peers by email or through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and more.

How to Set Up BrowZine?

Step 1: Download and install BrowZine

Download and install the BrowZine app to your tablet/smartphone:

  • via the BrowZine Download page or
    BrownZine Download Page QR code
  • directly via App Store (for all iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches with iOS v8.x+) or Google Play (for Android tablets and smartphones with OS v4.1+) or Amazon Appstore for Android (for Kindle Fire HD tablets). Just look up "BrowZine".
Step 2: Choose a Library and authenticate your access

When you first open BrowZine on your tablets or smartphones, you will be prompted to choose a Library. Select "City University of Hong Kong" from the list.

Log in with your Electronic ID and your AD/LAN Password.

You are then ready to browse, read and monitor the Library's scholarly journals using BrowZine! Don't miss the BrowZine Video Tutorials.


Are all Library journals accessible via BrowZine?

Not all, but many thousands of Library-subscribed journals with issues published since 2005 are covered by BrowZine. BrowZine supports directly-subscribed journals from a range of publishers. Keep checking back the list as it is growing with time. Besides, accessibility of a journal via the app depends on whether you are an authorized user of the journal concerned.

Can BrowZine be used to access Library's journals off campus?

Yes, BrowZine will work for you both on and off campus so long as you have entered your login credentials correctly.

What web browsers does BrowZine Web support?

Browzine Web utilizes the latest in web technologies to deliver a fast, modern experience. As such, the latest browsers are necessary to deliver this experience to users. BrowZine is tested and works well on:

Chrome version 43+
Safari version 8+
Firefox version 31+
Internet Explorer version 11+
