Mr Shum Yat Fei, the famous columnist, was invited to deliver a lecture on the "Art of Sun Tsz and Management" on 4 December 2003 in the second of the Famous Scholars/Writers Lecture Series, jointly organized by the Library and the Department of Management.
The theories of modern management have been discussed in the Art of Sun Tsz 《孫子兵法》. To facilitate the participants to have a better understanding on modern management theories and the Art of Sun Tsz, Mr Shum shared with them his views on the Art of Sun Tsz by analyzing the management theories and wisdom contained in it at the lecture.
Mr Shum Yat Fei has held the posts of editor, translator, columnist, editor in chief, and programme host in TV and radio programmes. He is now one of the columnists of Ming Pao Daily News. Mr Shum also teaches cultural courses in local universities as a visiting lecturer. In addition, he designed a series of courses on the management theories and wisdom contained in The Book of Changes《易經》, Lao Zi《老子》 and the Art of Sun Tsz at the Management and Executive Development Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Institute for Enterprise. Recently, Mr Shum acts as one of the hosts of "Discovery Tour around the World" of the e-learning website as well as the radio programme "Free as Wind" of Radio Television Hong Kong. Mr Shum has written a number of books in Chinese including 《人生路》, 《命運之激流》, 《八方群英》, 《詩經與人生痛癢》, 《孫子智慧與人生導航》 and 《生活智慧系列》.
