Prof. Donald Stone, our valued supporter of the Library, visited CityU in January 2004 while he was on his sabbatical leave. Along with his visit, Prof. Stone made his second donation of books on western arts to the Library. The donation included books on art history and theory, art and artists around the world, and various museum and exhibition catalogues.
A book donation and exhibition opening ceremony, officiated by Prof. Donald Stone, Prof. Zhang Longxi, Director of the Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies, and Prof. Eden Yu, the Acting Librarian, was held in the Library Lobby on 14 January 2004. The ceremony was followed by a public lecture organized by the Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies, entitled " 'That roar which lies on the other side of silence': Hong lou meng, Middlemarch and Other Masterpieces in Narrative Fiction."
