Selection of Creative Works by Distinguished Visiting Writer
and Writing Faculty



Mr. Junot Díaz, the Pulitzer Prize Winner for his novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, presented at the City University’s “Reading and Talk by Distinguished Visiting Writer Junot Diaz” on 24 July 2011. In connection of the event, Run Run Shaw Library launched a book display of the works of Mr.Díaz and the international writing faculty during 21 to 31 July 2011 to provide library users an opportunity to learn and appreciate their works. The writing faculty is from the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing of the Department of English. The Library is pleased to have invited Mr. Díaz and the writers to visit the Library.  


Mr. Díaz is a fiction editor at the Boston Review and teaches creative writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His fiction spans countries, continents, cultures and languages and his award-winning novel is an insightful exploration of immigrant life, popular culture and changing social etiquettes.

The MFA in Creative Writing, which is run by the acclaimed author Ms. Xu Xi, provides students the opportunity to strengthen their writing skills of writings in different genres under the coaching of the international writers through workshops, classes, readings, lectures and informal exchanges during the writers’ residencies.
