Highlights of the Conference

Apart from 8 Panel Sections and 4 provocation panels spanning over three days, we have a Roundtable on Governance Challenges for Hong Kong (13 April, Wed 10:30-12:00 at Hotel ICON). We invited past and present government officials and public organization executives as speakers to talk about governance and policy formation in Hong Kong, and give audience a taste of public management and policy in the city.

Another major attraction is the Editors' Forum (15 April, Fri 16:00-17:30 at Hotel ICON) joined by the Editors of Public Management Review, International Public Management Journal, Public Administration, Public Administration Review, Australian Journal of Public Administration, and Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory.

  • Welcome Drinks (12 April 2016, Tuesday 17:30-19:30, Hotel ICON)
    Enjoy a social drink and appetizers in a casual atmosphere at the Silverbox Ballroom, 1/F, Hotel ICON.

  • Civic Reception (13 April 2016, Wednesday 18:30-20:00, PolyU)
    This reception is hosted by the Efficiency Unit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. You will be shown the past, present and prospective public sector reform in Hong Kong. Do come 15 minutes early to avoid the crowds at the lift lobby for the Innovation Think Tank on 13/F of Jockey Club Innovation Tower, PolyU. The Jockey Club Innovation Tower was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and is home to PolyU's School of Design.

  • Gala Dinner (14 April 2016, Thursday 19:00-21:30, Hotel ICON)
    Take the opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones. Winners of the Best Paper Awards etc. will be announced. Chinese dinner will be served at the Silverbox Ballroom, 1/F, Hotel ICON. Arrive early for Pre-Dinner drinks at 18:45

  • Farewell Reception (15 April 2016, Friday 18:45-21:45 pm, Victoria Harbour Cruise)
    Finally, it's time to relax after the 3-day paper presentation and panel discussion. We will take you out onto "A Symphony of Lights" Dinner Cruise around Hong Kong's harbour at night. Enjoy the buffet and a live band on board. Coaches will be arranged from Hotel ICON to Hung Hom ferry pier at 18:00.

These are all complimentary for delegates with conference badges. We also welcome accompanying persons who have purchased tickets in advance for Gala Dinner and Harbour Cruise.

Two Cultural Experience Booths will be set up at Hotel ICON (Skybridge, 1/F) for delegates who wish to take a break from the academic programme:

  • 14 April (Thursday 13:30-15:30, Hotel ICON) - Chinese Rainbow Calligraphy Booth
