The Department of Public Policy

The Department of Public Policy (POL) is a multidisciplinary department with a multinational faculty and a strong international orientation. Our teaching and research expertise offers students at all levels a vibrant academic environment which enables them to engage creatively and critically with the key policy challenges facing the contemporary world-locally, regionally and globally. In our teaching programmes we aim to produce public policy professionals who will emerge as leaders in a wide range of organisational contexts: public, private, non-governmental and voluntary sectors. The Department offers a full range of programmes from undergraduate, taught master, to doctoral levels. On the research side, our current research strengths encompass six core areas of Comparative Philosophy and Applied Ethics, China Studies, Environmental Policy, Politics, Public Management and Urban Studies. The Laboratory for Public Management and Policy

The Laboratory for Public Management and Policy (LaMP) works at the intersection of public management and public policy. Its primary aim is to examine how management practices and organizational arrangements can be more effectively configured to enhance public service performance, benefit public policy and enhance public value. The Laboratory brings together scholars who have an interest in a wide range of questions of public management and policy. Faculty ask and answer questions on public management and policy on a range of topics: budgeting, energy, environment, health care, human resource management, labour markets, organizational design, organizational performance sustainable development, social policy, social and public services innovation, and strategic management.  LaMP draws upon the full range social science research methods and of hosts Experimental, Observational and Integration Laboratories. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has a seven-decade history of application-oriented education. Since 1937, the university and its predecessors have graduated 355,000 students, many of which are now leaders of their professions and the community. Today, PolyU advances knowledge through research and transfers knowledge and technology through education and service.

Conveniently located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, the expanding campus is also home to over 32,000 current students and 3,600 staff members. It houses six faculties and two schools offering 221 taught programmes, a library with 2.3 million holdings and an industrial centre in addition to catering, computing, health, laboratory, sports, training and other facilities. The award-winning teaching and research hotel is fully functioning and open to the public. Jockey Club Innovation Tower houses the School of Design, the Design Institute for Social Innovation and other facilities. The Department of Management and Marketing

The Department of Management and Marketing (MM) is one of the constituent departments of PolyU Faculty of Business. Our Faculty is accredited by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System). With more than 50 full-time academic staff, the Department has expertise in strategic management, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, human resource management, international business, public sector management and marketing. Faculty members are actively engaged in original research and impactful consultancy with regional and international focuses. The Department aspires to achieve research excellence to underpin teaching and support services. Specifically, we strive to cultivate knowledgeable and responsible executives and practitioners with critical thinking and innovative ideas; to discover and disseminate new and frontier knowledge in management and marketing; and to improve business practices through active collaboration with the business community.
