Closure of Notebook Service Centre at CityU

by Joe Chow

Located on the second floor of Academic 1 building, the Lenovo Service Centre (formally called the IBM Service Centre) was aimed to provide a localized notebook repair and maintenance service to members of the CityU community including staff, students and alumni. It has served the community well for years as a very convenient on-campus repair centre.

Following the termination of the Student Notebook Long Term Loan Scheme (“LLS”), demand on such services was dramatically decreased. After considering the cost effectiveness of running the centre, both the Lenovo and the university have reached an agreement to stop the operation of the centre and closed it on 15 March 2013. Staff, students and alumni who took their notebooks to the centre but did not collect them after the closure should have been informed by Lenovo on how to collect their notebooks. As Lenovo is providing off-campus maintenance service for notebooks which are still under warranty or covered by maintenance contracts, should there be any query on this; users are advised to contact Lenovo directly. The locations, opening hours and contact information of the service centres can be found at the Lenovo’s website at http://www.lenovo.com/contact/hk/en/.

Let’s take this chance to express our thanks to Lenovo for its quality on-campus maintenance service to the CityU throughout these years.
