Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Assistant (2 posts) in the Department of Media and Communication (Appointment for 6 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. T/046/24]

Project

Informing policy with data: A platform for monitoring and managing the talent flow

Duties

The project aims to develop a platform for monitoring and managing the global talent flow. The appointees are expected to focus on the latter aspect of the project, including both front-end and back-end development. Duties include to:

  1. Design and develop software, including web applications, mobile applications, UI designs, system and services development);
  2. Work on SaaS interfaces;
  3. Develop LLM-enhanced recommender systems for talent recommendations;
  4. Oversee daily service development, deployment, and maintenance;
  5. Perform bug-fixing and software system testing;
  6. Liaise with front-end developers to develop a range of business functions;
  7. Work closely with project leaders and team members to prepare reports, contribute to scientific papers and develop research proposals; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader.

Requirements

  1. A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related disciplines;
  2. Working experience in Java, PHP, JS, jQuery, CSS, HTML, C++, Linux Shell scripting, Docker, and at least 2 years’ hands-on and solid software development experience;
  3. Strong analytical skills and eager to tackle problems independently; and
  4. Knowledge in React, Flask/Django would be an advantage.

Candidates with a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow. Preference will be given to candidates with exceptional performance in research and publication.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
